Ray Stevens is an NPC in The Last Stand: Union City. He is found on the second floor of 12 Smith Street in Pinedale. His fate is not revealed to the player.

Background[]

Tlsuc 12 smith street

12 Smith St., Ray's home.

Ray is a stubborn old man, possessing a grudge against Ed Boone over a pair of bolt cutters that Ed forgot to return. Even at the dawn of the zombie apocalypse, he still holds on to that grudge.

Trivia[]

  • If the player talks to Ray before accepting Ed's quest, Ray will simply comment that he is way too old for the apocalypse, and he will resort to living the rest of his life on the second floor or until the zombies downstairs in his house have subsided.
  • Upon speaking to Ray about Ed, he will react bitterly, calling Ed a "bastard", hinting that the two were not on good terms. Yet, unlike Ed, who was willing to put aside his ego to ask for assistance, Ray remains bitterly unhelpful.
  • Like many other quest and story critical NPCs, zombies will ignore Ray and he will ignore them.
  • Considering Ray's elderly condition and his stubbornness, it is unlikely that he'll survive the zombie apocalypse.
  • An interesting thing to note about Ray are the stairs up to the second floor. Like Darnel, Ray doesn't have the entrance barricaded. While it is possible for Darnel to survive on his own, due to the availability of melee weapons and his combat experience, Ray's means of survival are somewhat debatable. It can be assumed either that the zombies have yet to discover that there is a survivor on the second floor, or that Ray has his own method of defending himself against the zombies. He also may have survived due to an unseen firearm as he says, when he sees the player after the player accepts Ed's quest, "Where'd I put my gun?"
  • Possibly, Ray's gun is in the basement, in the suitcase next to the washing machine. It is an Extended Magazine PPM 9, which the player can take and use.
  • Ray looks like Barry Wilmott, although slimmer in build.
